Investigations

 An important element of the solution of any criminal incident is a thorough follow-up investigation by an experienced investigator. Captain Mike Osmun, coordinates the Investigative Functions of the DeWitt Police Department. The Investigations Division of the DeWitt Police Department currently has a 65% clearance rate on cases assigned for follow-up investigation.

Captain Mike Osmun is a 30 year veteran of the DeWitt Police Department and currently serves as the Investigations Commander and second in command of the department. Captain Osmun oversees all follow-up investigations of criminal incidents as well has having responsibility for the Property and Evidence functions of the police department.

Captain Osmun has served in all levels of the police department including service as Interim Chief of Police. He is a dedicated law enforcement professional with specialized training and skills in evidence collection, investigative techniques, fingerprint processing, crime scene processing, computer crimes, property room management and Uniform Crime Reporting.
