Gene Ellis, Chief of Police

Chief Gene Ellis began his law enforcement career with a large suburban police department in Texas where he served as a patrol officer, detective, juvenile investigator, sergeant and Internal Affairs supervisor. He also served as Chief of Police for 2 other communities before coming to DeWitt. Chief Ellis is a graduate of the 217th Session of the FBI National Academy Program and he holds a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice. Chief Ellis is dedicated to professionalism in law enforcement which he expounds on as an instructor of ethics and various other topics to police cadets, experienced police officers, and community groups. Chief Ellis is married and has three children.
